“I appreciate that art is all around us and impacts every decision we make, every day of our lives. Why live with mediocrity when you can surround yourself with things of beauty that inspire you. I love the arts – from jewelry making, painting, pottery, and gardening, to creating miniature scenes – I’ve dabbled in it all. Theatre and music inspire me to create, galleries inspire me to create, and being in nature inspires me to create. When I watch a play or movie that inspires me, I often want to create something that will remind me of the emotions I enjoyed while watching it. These inspirations have led me to focus my creative passions on all media. I transform polymer clay, glass, and metal to create jewelry. I incorporate paint, collage, and polymer clay to create fine art and I utilize all media, plus natural materials, to create my unique miniatures.
Linda J. Farris, Artist
Farris, a native of Hammond, IN, has lived in Muncie, IN since graduating from Ball State University with a BS Degree in Art in 1967. She has been deeply involved in art and miniatures since the 1970’s – enjoying a successful professional career in education and as Vice President / Partner in T.L. Farris & Associates advertising agency. Linda also judges juried art and photography competitions – sometimes teaming with her husband – also an artist. She teaches national and regional workshop classes involving her creations. Several of Linda’s miniature compositions have won awards in fine arts competitions including a major cash prize from the South Shore Center for the Arts Salon Show in Munster, IN. Linda’s work has been featured in magazines, newspapers, TV and on the web. Her work is owned by many collectors throughout the US.
